Cambridgeport is one of the neighborhoods of Cambridge, Mass, bounded by Massachusetts Avenue, the Charles River and River Street. It contains predominantly residential homes with vibrant Central Square, at the northernmost part and University Park, a collection of renovated or recently constructed office and apartment buildings.

Cambridge port is located under half mile to several world class universities, including Harvard University, MIT and Boston University, as well as to Kendall Square, the largest biotechnology and Life Science cluster in the world (innovation square).

And if you are commuting, I-90 The "Mass Pike" and Storrow Drive are just a few blocks away across from the BU, Western Ave or River St bridges. The Boston Logan Airport is within 20 minutes reach by car. Grab the Red Line in Central Square to head to Downtown Boston, or the Green line across the B.U. bridge!

Green spaces abound around the site, including the Charles River Bike Path, which runs along the scenic river edge and offers the most stunning views of the Boston Skyline, and Magazine Beach Park, Cambridge’s second largest park with an outdoor swimming pool, soccer and baseball fields, and outdoor exercise equipment. A great spot to launch your kayak into the waters of the Charles River. Playing tennis or basketball? The Hoyt field off River Street and the River Press Park has tennis and basketball courts. Dog owners also assemble at the Hoyt field on mornings (checks allowed hours for dogs, 6 am to 9 pm).

Play ping pong? Fulmore Park features stone ping pong tables. The Fulmore Park has tennis tables, and a few chickens!

The Dana Park at its center is a go-to recreational area renovated in 2004 with open lawn, playground, sitting areas and game court. Magazine Beach, Cambridge second largest park with an outdoor swimming pool, soccer and baseball fields, on the Southern end is a wonderful destination for running or walking along the scenic river edge through the Charles River Bike Path. Playing tennis? Baseball?

Walk South and two bridges, the Massachusetts Ave and B.U. Bridge will lead you into Boston. From the River edge, you are only within a 25-minute scenic walk to Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox.

Though it is largely residential, street corners are home to small bodegas and local restaurants. Cambridgeport offers the ultimate in city convenience, with big-name shopping spots like Whole Foods on River Street, Walgreen's, and Memorial Plaza, home to Trader Joe's, and a variety of other retail favorites such as Media Center.

Some favorite locals include Riverside Pizza which has been serving the community for the past 30 years, Alive and Kicking Lobsters, a fresh-sea food counter, and a recent addition Black Sheep Market Bagels & Coffee at 101 Magazine Street.

Finally, all the restaurants of Central square from the little Donkey to Thelonious Monk.  Whole Foods on River Street and Trader's Joe will be your immediate grocery stores.

  • 7 Streets Names in Cambridgeport commemorate commanders, ships, and a decisive naval battle of the War of 1812. Perry, Lawrence, Lake now Corporal McTernan, Erie, Decatur and Hamilton Street. In 2012, during the War’s bicentennial year, the Cambridge Historical Commission and the City of Cambridge installed historic markers commemorating the "1812 Streets."  
  • Cambridgeport was indeed a port. It was primarily agricultural through the end of the 1700's. Development began after the opening of the West Boston Bridge now the Longfellow Bridge in 1793.
